Milverton, ON – Thursday, July 21, 2022 – 22 Racing heads out on the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Western swing this weekend, starting at Edmonton International Raceway on Saturday, July 23rd. Our dedicated truck drivers left with the haulers Tuesday morning and the rest of the 22 Racing Team will meet them in Wetaskiwin, Alberta tomorrow. After not being able to travel West for two years due to COVID, everyone is excited to be going back to some of our favorite tracks, beginning with the Bayer 300 at this ¼-mile oval that is sure to host a thrilling race.
Going into the race weekend the 22 Racing drivers both hold an impressive top 5 position in the 2022 NASCAR Pinty’s Series points standings: Alex Tagliani in 4th and Treyten Lapcevich in 5th.
Coming off of a fifth-place finish at the Grand Prix of Toronto, Alex Tagliani is still searching for his first victory of the 2022 season. The driver of the No. 18 Viagra / St Hubert Chevrolet Camaro is no stranger to Edmonton International Raceway: he won at this track in 2016 and set a qualifying record (71.919 mph) in 2014 that has still yet to be broken. Tagliani is looking for another solid finish at this track in the Bayer 300.
While this may be Treyten Lapcevich’s first time visiting Edmonton International Raceway, he almost always dominates on ovals, and it is expected that this weekend will be no different. The driver of the No. 20 FBM / RGC Sports / Qwick Wick Chevrolet Camaro has proven that he is a major contender and he looks to continue working his way up in the points standings.
Raceday kicks off with practice at 12:35 p.m. MDT, followed by qualifying taking place from 4:50 p.m. – 5:10 p.m. MDT. The Bayer 300 will go green at 7:30 p.m. MDT (9:30 p.m. EST). The race will be 300 laps (75 miles), with a planned pit stop at lap 150.
